The Client - University of Bath School of Management
The University of Bath School of Management is a research led institution with outstanding undergraduate and post graduate degrees. Their target users were from a multitude of different backgrounds from high school students looking at their first university degrees, business executives with 10 years plus experience, to researchers and academics wanting to engage with peers.

The brief

Create a fresh new look for the website to bring it up to date and enable all users to find what they are looking for. The site had to not only market the school to prospective students but also act as a resource for information for academics, researchers and the media.

The design

Drawing on my 10 years of experience with the business school I worked with the team to produce a series of mock ups with different design ideas. Feedback on these designs was gathered from a number of focus groups as well as the main University web marketing teams. Their input was useful despite business schools being unique among university departments.
After incorporating all the feedback and user research into the designs we came up with this simple 2 tier menu system which worked for all users and enabled the audience to find what they were looking for.

Using Google analytics data, I continued to measure the sites success and update any areas where usage was dropping off.

Where it is now

The site has evolved since I finished working on the project 6 years ago and it has moved in a different direction however I think we made massive strides in the right direction following all the accessibility guidelines and branding.
